Salma is a second-year law student in the French Common Law Program. Prior to contributing to Ex Curia’s cover art for the Summer 2025 issue, she pitched an article and blog about her top three favourite matcha places in Ottawa.

 

Known as “Matcha Girl” by her classmates for her consistent purchases of iced matchas at Happy Goat in the Sandy Hill location, she enjoys documenting new food places she discovers and connecting people with spots that offer both a welcoming atmosphere and great dishes. She believes these two elements create strong first impressions and are a helpful way to build meaningful relationships in law school.

 

She is always looking for ways to support her community and is actively involved in initiatives that advocate for students’ mental health. Currently, she serves as the VP of Creative Change, a non-profit that raises money for charitable causes through creative events, as well as the VP of Events for The Elephant in the Room, a wellness club at the law faculty that works to de-stigmatize mental illness and promote mental health and wellness support in the community.
